Trainee Car Sales Executive - Portsmouth

The Role:

We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Trainee Car Sales Executive to join a client of ours at their high-performing main dealership based in Portsmouth.

This is a fantastic entry point into the motor trade industry for individuals with a strong background in sales - such as recruitment, estate agency, B2B sales or similar environments - who are eager to transition into car sales. Our client offers full training, ongoing support, and a clear development path within a well-established and reputable dealer group.

As a Trainee Car Sales Executive, you’ll be engaging with customers, identifying their needs, and guiding them through the vehicle purchase journey. With structured training and an experienced team around you, you’ll be set up for long-term success in the automotive sector.

Responsibilities & Requirements of a Trainee Car Sales Executive:

Sales experience in a customer-facing role (e.g. recruitment, estate agency, B2B sales)

Excellent communication and people skills

A passion for cars and a desire to start a long-term career in vehicle sales

Target-driven with a strong work ethic

Eagerness to learn a structured sales process and industry best practices

Full UK driving licence is essential

Guide customers through the full sales process from enquiry to handover

Conduct vehicle demonstrations and accompany test drives

Match customer needs with suitable vehicles and finance options

Accurately complete sales and finance paperwork (FCA compliant)

Negotiate deals within dealership guidelines to maximise profitability

Maintain strong product knowledge and stay updated on promotions

Use CRM systems to manage follow-ups and customer relationships

Achieve and exceed sales and customer service targets

The Package:

£18,000 Basic Salary with a realistic OTE of £60,000+ (Uncapped commission)

Company vehicle included

Monday to Friday: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm (One day off during the week)

Saturday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

1 in 3 Sunday Rota: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
