Roadside Technician - Exeter

The Role:

Silcom Recruitment are seeking an experienced Roadside Technician to join a well-established, family-run business operating from Exeter across the majority of Devon, Cornwall & Somerset.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled motor mechanic with recovery experience to join a professional team delivering roadside assistance and recovery services 24/7. The ideal candidate will have a solid mechanical background, excellent diagnostic skills, and a strong commitment to customer service and safety.

You’ll work in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same, supporting customers, diagnosing faults, and ensuring vehicles are safely repaired or recovered with professionalism and efficiency.

Responsibilities & Essential Requirements:

Attend roadside breakdowns and recover vehicles safely and efficiently

Diagnose and repair faults where possible, or arrange recovery if not

Provide outstanding customer service, ensuring safety and reassurance at all times

Work confidently under pressure, using initiative to resolve varied challenges

Complete all required paperwork and follow company procedures

Maintain a clean, professional appearance and uphold company standards

Collaborate effectively with colleagues across multiple bases

Qualified in motor mechanics with experience in the motor trade

Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 points)

Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills

Good knowledge of the Exeter and Spreyton areas

Willingness to work variable shifts, covering 24/7/365 operations.

The Package:

Basic Salary: £40,560 per annum

Additional: £10 per shift tax-free meal allowance

Commission: Earn extra on certain parts and services

Hours: Approximately 60 hours per week, flexible 24/7 shift pattern
