HGV Technician - Southampton

The Role:

Silcom Recruitment currently seek an experienced HGV Technician for a client of ours based on the outskirts of Southampton.

Our client is an established independent business who specialise in HGV Vehicle repairs & maintenance. Due to growth, they now seek an experienced HGV Technician to join their growing team on a full time permanent basis. 

Responsibilities & Requirements:

Servicing, maintenance and repairs on vehicles ranging from 7.5 tonne to 44 tonne – carrying out checks and maintenance according to the manufacturer’s guidelines.

Repairing and replacing faulty parts and components.

Advising the Service Receptionists about required repairs.

Producing timely estimates.

Maintaining repair and service records.

Service/Breakdown Call outs - weekly rota

Package:

Alternate days and nights 06.00am - 14.30pm, 13.30pm - 22.00pm (alternate weeks; 1 week day shift, 1 week night shift)

Ability to do permanent nights (hourly rate negotiable, subject to experience)

£16.00 per hour, £32,280 based on 40 hours a week.

HGV Licence (Class 1 or 2) £2,500 per annum added to your salary (£50 per week in wages)

Shift pay on late shift weeks, £175 per week.

Overtime averages between 10-12 hours per week at 1.5 x hourly rate

Saturday working paid at £25 p/hr flat rate, currently 1 in 3 Saturdays, 4hrs minimum - option to do.

Call-out rota (optional, usually 1 in 8 weeks) use of company van, standby rate £105 per week, 1.5 x hourly rate from start to finish of being out the house, if called out.

20 days holiday plus bank holiday, increasing up to 25 days plus bank holidays after 5 years.

Private health insurance & Pension scheme as other benefits.

Circa £60,000 package overall.
