The Role:

We are recruiting on the behalf of a client of ours based in Derby, seeking to add an Accounts Assistant to their team. Supporting the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the following:

Responsibilities:

To assist the Financial Controller in maintaining effective financial control of accounting activities. 

To ensure that daily transactions are recorded in a timely and accurate manner.

 Post daily banking sheets and credit card receipts.

 Assist with credit control duties, ensuring debts are collected in a timely manner.

 Ensure that purchase invoices are correctly authorised and coded, and posted to the purchase ledger on a regular basis.

 Assist with monthly reconciliations of purchase ledger balances to supplier statements, running required reports and performing period end procedures.

 Assist the Financial Controller and Assistant Accountant with month end Balance Sheet reconciliations and Profit & Loss analysis.

The ideal candidate:

Relevant experience; as it is essential that you can ‘hit the ground running’.

You should be highly organised, be able to work positively and constructively within a pressurised environment and have a high level of attention to detail.

You should be able to maintain effective working relationships and have good communication skills.

Strong IT skills for data entry are essential, and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required. In addition, you should have a good working knowledge of general accounting software and systems.

Preferably have or be working towards AAT, or a similar qualification, or otherwise be able to demonstrate the necessary level of competence through work experience.

The Package:

£18,000 - £20,000 per annum depending on experience. Hours are Monday to Friday 9:00-5:00 with a half hour lunch.
